Family fun run

The third annual West U Halloween Dash 5K and one-mile Kids Fun Run will take place Saturday, Oct. 11, starting at 8 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., respectively. This family-friendly event will take place on a flat, fast, USA Track and Field-certified course within the tree-lined streets of West University Place, starting at 6104 Auden. Costumes are optional but encouraged. Judges will award prizes for Best Female, Best Male, Best Couple and Best Child. Prizes will also be awarded for the top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus. Early registration continues until Sept. 25, and all runners who register prior to Sept. 30 will receive a T-shirt. Proceeds benefit West University Elementary. Registration is open at westupto.org.
