Hilshire Village resident Phyllis Dent (pictured, center, with Hazel Donato, president of the Houston Bar Association Auxiliary, and Betty Griffin) was recognized for her accomplishments at a luncheon at The Grove restaurant. The non-profit American Lawyers Alliance gave Dent the 2015 Outstanding Individual Volunteer Award, which recognizes people whose work increases public understanding of the law and the American legal system. The Houston Bar Association Auxiliary nominated Phyllis to recognize her work with the HBAA Charitable Fund. Phyllis has served as the Charitable Fund president five times and has been instrumental in helping raise over $100,000 in scholarships for law schools in Houston. Phyllis and her husband Dick Dent are longtime residents of Hilshire Village and are active in community affairs.
