Publisher's Note - February 2016

Congratulations to the newlyweds featured in this month’s issue, including The Buzz’s own Darsey Sharp and her husband Jon. I’m especially impressed with how poised the young men seem to have been throughout the planning and the wedding weekend. I wasn’t nearly as composed when Joni and I were married. I remember being a nervous wreck, not because I had any doubts about the woman I was marrying, but I was truly baffled by what married life was going to be like. The morning of our wedding I took a long walk with a close friend who had been married 20 years. I remember quizzing him about marriage as if I were joining a secret society and about to learn the secret handshake. Truth is he didn’t say anything earth-shaking, but I hung on to every word. Twenty-seven years later, I’ll let you in on a secret: There is no secret handshake. And in the end, as The Beatles sing, the love you take is equal to the love you make. [email protected]
