Last fall, after a five-year courtship, Elizabeth Shelton and John Martin went to a friend’s wedding at a chateau in Normandy, France. Choosing a romantic moment at Sunday brunch, John proposed on the grounds of the former castle. They became Mr. and Mrs. Martin June 18 at Chapelwood Methodist Church with a reception at Red Oak Ballroom in CityCentre. The groom’s cake added a whimsical touch, designed in the shape of a Miller Lite cooler with Miller Lite cans on top. Parents of the couple Carolyn and Terry Shelton and Patricia and David Martin happily danced the night away to The Spiffingtons. The couple who started with a royal proposal will surely have a fairy-tale life.
