A kind gesture

Christmas is a season of giving, and 9-year-old Everett Bowlin (pictured, with Ms. Karen Doudican) decided to do something to help local families. Everett celebrated his birthday with friends from Valley Oaks Elementary, but instead of asking for gifts to be brought for him, he asked for gift cards or cash so that he could donate them to families in need. His friends were generous, and the next day, Everett presented Ms. Doudican (who handles giving to families in need for the school), with over $200. Everett’s parents, Paige and Josh Bowlin, say they are proud and that the idea was all his.
