The Lamar High School Marching Band achieved a milestone at the annual University Interscholastic League Region 23 marching contest in Katy. For the first time in Lamar's 79-year history, the band qualified for UIL Area E contest, based on superior overall scores. This year’s program, “The Magic Flute,” is a medley of classical music from composers Samuel Barber, Philip Glass, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The program, led by Lamar drum majors Kody Aitch (’18), Ned Swart (’17) and Alex Batiste (’17), featured several flute solos, color guard flag spinning and ballet dance. Pictured are students Naomi Pryzant (sophomore) and Henry Rose (a senior).
