Horn Elementary fifth graders

Horn Elementary fifth graders were given an engineering challenge: Apply what you know about energy (potential, kinetic and conservation) to solve the problem of dropping precious cargo (an egg) accurately and safely, without breaking it. Students worked in groups to design, build and test their devices. Pictured (from left) are the winners of the challenge: Samara Duran, Lindsay Huynh, Taylor Brewer, Sanjna Pandit, Julia Lizee, Ashley York, Jack Neumayr, Juliana Morales, Reagan Brown and Ajeet Nagi. Their cargo landed safely when dropped six feet from the ground.

Editor’s note: The Buzz congratulates Buzz About Town columnist Annie Blaylock McQueen on the arrival of her beautiful baby Georgia. Annie is taking a short break to spend time with Georgia and twin toddlers Cash and Lila. In the meantime, associate editor Jordan Magaziner Steinfeld is handling this column. As usual, please send your high-res photos and community news to [email protected] or 5001 Bissonnet, Suite 100, Bellaire, Texas 77401. Items are published on a space-available basis.
