Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! Here are some events to look forward to this weekend.
Grab some beads and head to Galveston because the party is going on all weekend long and will continue through Feb. 28. The island’s 106th Mardi Gras celebration will take over The Strand and Seawall with more than 30 concerts, 22 parades, 20 balcony parties and five masked balls. Explore all the Mardi Gras festivities Galveston has to offer!
Check out garden products and services that are ideal for Houston-area homes and landscapes at the 31st annual Texas Home & Garden Show. The show is a great resource for visitors looking to spruce up their indoor and outdoor living. Offerings include workshops, a kids zone, vacation ideas, kitchen and bath displays and a rusty truck vintage market.
Celebrate Mardi Gras with a menagerie of animal friends. The wild event includes a Houston Symphony Orchestra performance, student poetry and a musical excursion to the tunes from Happy Feet. Come dressed as your favorite animal.
Drop by for an afternoon of family fun and education. Activities include music, craft workshops, demonstrations, performances and giveaways.
ReelAbilities: Houston Film & Arts Festival, is a collaborative festival aimed at promoting inclusion and celebrating the lives, stories and talents of people with disabilities. The festival opens Sunday with Enter the Faun, a production featuring the work of a veteran choreographer and a young actor with cerebral palsy. The festival is hosted by the JFS Alexander Institute for Inclusion in collaboration with the Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities. All ReelAbilities Film Festival events are free and open to the public.
