The Crime Stoppers of Houston team is all moved into its new home on Main Street. More than 250 people gathered for the ribbon cutting to celebrate and tour the Dave Ward Building, named in honor of news anchor Dave Ward for his contributions to the organization and to the Houston community. The ceremony included a proclamation from Mayor Sylvester Turner, presented by Houston City Council Member Brenda Stardig, declaring Jan. 27, 2017, as the “First-Ever Crime Stoppers Headquarters Day.” Texas State Troopers presented Ward with a plaque and an official Texas Trooper cowboy hat. Inside the building, Crime Stoppers of Houston unveiled a surprise: the Dave Ward Tribute Wall, featuring photos spanning his career. Pictured (from left) at the ribbon cutting are Alan Helfman, Doe and Henry Florsheim and Constable Alan Rosen. See crime-stoppers.org. Be sure to read the Buzz blog Sunday Mornings with Rania, in which Rania Mankarious, executive director of Crime Stoppers, shares perspectives on safety in our neighborhoods.
