Families (including these young supporters) picnicked at their favorite local parks in support of “Picnic for the Prairie,” a city-wide event hosted by the local land conservation organization Katy Prairie Conservancy. The fundraising event was spread across the city as attendees were encouraged to gather their family and friends and enjoy a picnic with pre-arranged picnic meals from Urban Eats. The event kicked off at noon with opening remarks from City Council Member Abbie Kamin who proclaimed June 12 “Picnic for the Prairie Day.” The event raised $100,000 to support the preservation of the Katy Prairie.
