Leon O’Neal Jr. and the Buccaneers

Bill Robinson, head coach for the Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Association Junior Varsity Flag Football team the Buccaneers, recently welcomed a visitor to one of the team’s practices. Robinson, who graduated from Texas A&M, has been coaching his two sons’ football teams for 15 years. Recently, a mutual friend introduced him to former A&M Safety, Leon O’Neal Jr. (pictured, in back, with the Buccaneers). At a private workout with his sons, Robinson saw the great connection O’Neal had with the young players, breaking things down in a way they could understand, so he asked O’Neal to attend his JV Flag team’s practice. O’Neal joined a practice two days after the Buccaneers suffered a tough loss and spoke to the boys about playing hard together and the importance of teamwork. Most importantly, he talked about how what they do following a loss, in a game or in life, is what matters most. The young Bucs were in awe of O’Neal and excited to learn from him.
