The Health Museum Houston's 50th Anniversary Gala

On Saturday, November 2, 2019, The John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science will celebrate its first five decades of existence as the only health museum of its kind in the United States. Founded in 1969, The Health Museum is Houston’s most interactive science and health learning center, as well as one of only two Smithsonian Affiliate institutions in the city of Houston. 

 

The celebratory fundraising event will honor Dr. and Mrs. David BradenDr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mattox; and the M.D. Anderson Foundation with the prestigious “Heart of Gold Award” for their longstanding commitment to The Health Museum and to the overall health and wellbeing of Houstonians. The “50th Anniversary Gala” is chaired by Dr. and Mrs. Brian Strake Parsley; and Mr. and Mrs. J. Downey Bridgwater.

 

Proceeds raised during the “50th Anniversary Gala” will benefit the various educational and community programs operated by The Health Museum. Through its permanent and traveling exhibitions, as well as its yearlong education and community-focused programming, The Health Museum is dedicated to motivating and inspiring the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, mathematicians, and medical practitioners.
