La Grange

Sometimes, the best hamburger is served at the most unlikely of places. This is true at La Grange, a Montrose-area, coastal-Mexican café and craft cocktail bar known for its lively patio. Located in a former horse hospital built in the ’30s that later became the bar EJ’s, La Grange’s casual setting is a hidden oasis among homes and duplexes. A departure from Mexican specialties, the El Gringo Burger offers a unique twist on the standard burger formula with a mixture of Angus and brisket atop a homemade torta bun served with a side of thin fries. For a spicy burger, try the La Grange burger with guacamole, pepper jack cheese and black beans, or, for the non-meat burger lover, the black bean veggie burger. There is a full bar with creative craft cocktails. La Grange is busy during happy hour and weekends, so expect a wait, especially for a table on the festive main patio or rooftop deck area.
