Amazing Place, a faith-based day program for adults with mild to moderate dementia, commemorated 20 years of service at an anniversary celebration at the River Oaks Country Club. The event, chaired by Dan Dinges of Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation and emceed by ABC-13 anchor Melanie Lawson, drew more than 450 guests who raised over $715,000. Funds will support Amazing Place’s dementia day program, caregiver-support programs and community education. The evening’s program included personal stories from Dinges and Lawson; remarks by Tracey Brown, Amazing Place executive director, and Karen Comiskey, Amazing Place board president; and a tribute to honorees Mary Lou and Charles Hall. The event also marked the release of Remembering What Matters: Stories from an Amazing Place Reveal the Unexpected Lessons of Dementia, a book by Suzy LaForge featuring 10 stories from Amazing Place participants and families.
