Camdyn Doyle had a good day.

She started at the Hotel Granduca. After touring her suite, which was stocked with goodies, she said with a laugh, “It’s huge. It’s bigger than our house.”

After hanging out by the pool, she climbed into a Maserati and headed to the Galleria for a day of shopping, topped off by a makeover at Saks Fifth Avenue.

The Sweeny girl’s celebrity itinerary was part of her wish-fulfillment dream day granted by Kids Wish Network.

Camdyn suffers from a serious autoimmune disease. In 2009, when she was 5, she began losing weight. She was diagnosed with a metabolic disorder. Camdyn received a pump that administered Humalog insulin but still experienced some seizures. It was later discovered that her pump had been malfunctioning and causing these seizures. Since the pump was replaced, Camdyn’s levels are better, but she still struggles with everyday life.

“We’re really excited to give her the VIP treatment,” said Louise Upshaw-McClenny of Hotel Granduca, which has suites for long-term stays, including those for patients undergoing treatment. This was the first time the hotel had teamed up with Kids Wish Network.

When Camdyn’s mother, Shellie Irwin, told her she would be cruising around town in a Maserati, Camdyn asked, “What’s that?” When her mom showed her, she says she was excited. “Oh, wow! I’ve seen one of those before.”

She headed off to the Galleria, looking the part of a movie star.
