Black History Month

Horn Elementary first graders sang and danced to celebrate Black History Month.

Horn Elementary first graders sang and danced to celebrate Black History Month. Ms. Evelyn Gates, who has been teaching at Horn for 30 years, discussed the theme for the performance and completed research with the class. Artists chosen were centered around the personality of the students who participated. They included Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston and Prince. During the performance, each musician gave personal history/bio points from memory and then sang a snippet of a famous song. African dancers came on after the musicians. Narrators welcomed the parents and described the performance.
