Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing

The curtains opened at Horn Elementary as students took their places on stage. They performed plays by Shakespeare, guided by their drama teacher, Lisa Miller. Fifth-grade classes performed Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, The Tempest and Hamlet. Students auditioned for their parts by memorizing and reciting a poem or nursery rhyme. The roles of student director, props managers, and stage techs were also included in the audition process. All students were required to create their own costumes and set pieces were created during class. Ms. Miller says her favorite part is watching students who thought they could never get up in front of an audience or create a costume on their own realize they can do anything. Pictured, in Much Ado About Nothing, are (from left) Kristin Allen, Lucy Vestal, Miles Newsome, Rohan Parikh, Diego Joya, Dillan Alderete, Chase Gray, Nathaniel Abebe, Luke Brandt and Ajeet Nagi.
