Camerone Parker McCulloch, a former Ford-agency model who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, spoke at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s On the Move Luncheon. The former “face of Olay” who was featured in 350-plus magazines kept the diagnosis a secret so she could work to pay for her treatments and drug therapy. To raise awareness for the disease, chair Shawntell McWilliams lined up the roster of notables: the Rev. William A. Lawson, Melanie Lawson and Gina Gaston. Honorary chairs Stuart Burbach, Don McCormack and Franelle Rogers and patrons and honorees Gerald and Sherry Merfish were spellbound as Camerone told how she spent hours in treatment over a weekend and went back to work as though she was living a normal life. Camerone also showcased her private collection of Project Runway designs by Peach Carr, Kini Zamora and Korto Momolu. More than $200,000 for the National MS Society was raised.
