The Post Oak Little League 12U All Stars are now officially on the road to the Little League World Series. In the championship game against Oklahoma in the Southwestern Region Tournament in Waco, Texas on Wednesday, Post Oak won 8-0 in the nail-biting game.

The game started strong with pitcher Ryan Selvaggi holding Oklahoma from scoring any runs in the first inning, with the bases loaded. Richie Klosek then came in with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, building momentum for Post Oak to win the game. Post Oak then scored two more runs in the third inning, followed by runs scored in the fourth and fifth innings.

Post Oak Little League fans, players from other POLL age groups, and parents gathered at El Patio restaurant for a watch party Wednesday afternoon to watch as Post Oak vied for a spot in the Little League World Series. Among the many parents in attendance was Liz Crosswell, who has kids that have played with the 12-year-olds on the All-Star team. She noted that it has been incredible to watch this team make it so far.

Wesley Genung, an 11-year-old Post Oak Little League player said, “Watching the All-Stars gives me motivation that one day I’ll be like them.” Genung knows many players on the 12U All-Star team and said that they are excited that they have made it this far.

When asked about Post Oak’s success so far, Pee Wee Baseball Commissioner Brett Chiles said, “It means a lot for the Post Oak Little League community. We’ve been watching these boys, these 12-year-olds, since they were playing in t-ball at the Y. For them to come together and represent us in the state of Texas and beyond, we couldn’t be more proud.”

This is the first time that Post Oak Little League has made it this far in Post Oak’s 62-year history, making this even more special for the POLL community.

Post Oak Little League will now travel to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete in the Little League World Series, set to begin on Aug. 16. Post Oak Little League will represent the Southwest Region from the United States. They will be competing against seven other U.S. region teams, along with eight international teams. Their first game is scheduled for Aug. 16 against New England Region at 6 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN 2.

The Buzz will continue to follow Post Oak’s journey in the Little League World Series and provide updates following their first game.
