Jake Berlin

Jake Berlin (pictured, left) celebrated an undefeated wrestling season for the second year in a row. The Presbyterian School eighth grader had a 10-0 record for the year. In addition, Jake won first place at the Houston Area Wrestling Championship, also for the second year in a row. Following the city championship, he traveled to Dallas with other teammates to compete in the Texas State Wrestling Championship. Jake earned fourth place and a spot on the podium for the 98-pound weight class. Coached by Steve Woods, a former USA National Wrestling team member and resident athlete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, Jake began the sport while he was in sixth grade. “I saw that I could do wrestling for my middle school and was really excited and thought, why not try it out?” Jake said.
