Forty years of documentary-producing around the globe has enlightened Lois Farfel Stark leap years ahead of most of us. Her films have earned an Emmy, three golds in international film festivals and the Silver Gavel from the American Bar Association, and have been shown worldwide. Through her extraordinary lens, she was inspired 25 years ago to start a book about the way we see shapes that influence our thoughts. The Telling Image: Shapes of Changing Times recently won first place in non-fiction at the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, as well as gold medals from Nautilus Book Awards and the National Indie Excellence Awards. Her TED talk, “Shape: Hiding in Plain Sight,” is a teaser for it. No hide and seek here.
