Bellaire Little League’s Rice Owls

Bellaire Little League’s (BLL) Rice Owls (pictured) won the Texas league championship with a 33-14 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs. This was the highest-scoring championship win in the history of BLL’s Texas league. The 7- and 8-year-old Owls came into the game as underdogs after losing to the Horned Frogs during the regular season. Twenty-one of the Owls’ runs were scored in the final two innings of the game, with each batter in the lineup hitting the ball into the outfield. After shortstop Colton Rich forced the final out at second base, the championship celebrating began. The record-setting champions are (top row, from left) coach Andy Rich, Ryan Cowles, Evan Cohen, coach Dan Cowles, Gabriel Monroy, Colton Rich, Natan Saber, Will Kozar, Caleb Crosby and coach Bubba Crosby; (bottom row, from left) Truitt Wynn, William Rocha, Jaxson Ray, Nicholas Leonard, coach Kevin Leonard and coach Travis Kozar.
