FPR Track

FPR Track’s top athletes (pictured) arrived home at Bush Intercontinental Airport after competing at the 2019 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Greensboro, North Carolina. When they arrived at the games at North Carolina A&T State University, the athletes were among 13,000 others from all over the country. Twenty-seven FPR Track athletes advanced to the Junior Olympics, and seven went on to become All-Americans. In order to qualify for the Olympic Games, athletes competed at the Olympic trials and ranked sixth or higher in the Texas Gulf region. The winners are (top row, from left) Jamie Rivera, Marlene Soto, Olivia Hirst, Ola Jalal, Jasmine Williams, Paris Strange, Margon McCardell and David Kalwahli; (bottom row, from left) Kristina Thompson, Divine Ozzoma, Sarah Akpan, Nate Grant, Kamal Jalal, Christian Bell, Saul Cano, Enmanuel Galdino, Isabel Jakobsen, Sophia Akpan and Miya Greer.

Editor’s note: Send your best high-resolution photos and behind-the-scenes stories about young local athletes, in both team and individual sports, to SportzBuzz, Jr. at [email protected]. Include all contact info, names, ages, grades and schools. Featured athletes must live in Buzz-circulation neighborhoods. Items will be published on a space-available basis.
