Halloween might be the single day of the year when you are excused for dressing like Dracula and eating mounds of candy. But some restaurants in Houston are starting the Halloween countdown early with special spellbinding treats – from pumpkin cupcakes to orange wine. Check out our roundup of Halloween-themed treats you can find at local spots this month and get into the spooky spirit.

Celebrating the transition into fall, Sweet Paris unveiled a new seasonal crepe for the month of October. From Oct. 1-31, enjoy the Black Widow Crepe featuring dark activated charcoal batter, white chocolate, bonne mamam jam, sweet cream cheese and blackberries.

Dessert Gallery has all sorts of yummy Halloween treats, including Hand-Decorated Halloween Butter Cookies, GingerPeople skeletons, Halloween Cupcakes and Petit Fours and chocolate covered Oreos and chocolate-dipped pretzels, decorated for the holiday.

Camerata wine bar offers a wide selection of orange wines that are perfect for Halloween, if you’re looking for an alcoholic treat. Camerata has an expansive list of orange wines, including Yetti & The Kokonut, Gravner, Nanclares y Prieto, Paolo Bea and more.

Halloween treats are available at CRAVE in-store and online in limited quantities through Halloween, including Caramel Apple Cupcakes, Pumpkin and Ghost Frosted Sugar Cookies, and Spooky Confetti Cupcakes. 

Café Poetes

Starbucks no longer has a monopoly on the Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Many coffee shops in Houston have now created their own version, including Café Poetes in Montrose, which recently unveiled their fall menu. The menu features a range of Pumpkin lattes, including the Pumpkin Matcha Lavender Latte and the Pumpkin Cinnamon Vanilla Latte. 

Launch at Royal Sonesta

Hours: Daily, 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
Drop by Launch, the coffee shop at the Royal Sonesta for new coffee drinks released just in time for Halloween. There’s the classic Pumpkin Latte, but if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can try the Pumpkin Praline Velvet Ice, a cool, rich mix of praline, pumpkin and caramel.

McHugh Tea, an organic tea room, is getting creative this month, offering Pumpkin Spice Scones that are infused with Pumpkin Spice Chai. They also have an Organic Pumpkin Spice Chai, available while supplies last, and an Organic Wizards Brew – organic black tea blended with ginger root, apple pieces, pineapple bits, safflower and other special flavorings. 

The Bar at The Houstonian 
111 North Post Oak Lane
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 3 p.m.-12 a.m., Friday-Saturday, 12 p.m.-2 a.m., Sunday, 12 p.m.-12 a.m.
Coffee isn’t the only thing pumpkin-spiced this month. The Bar at the Houstonian is serving up a pumpkin-spiced martini for those looking for an adult beverage.
