Thanksgiving Made Easy: Where to Pre-Order for Turkey Day

With Thanksgiving less than two weeks away, it’s officially crunch time. No more procrastinating – it’s time to plan for the feast. Here, we’ve rounded up places from where you can pre-order side dishes or pies (perfect for taking to a Friendsgiving potluck), or an entire Thanksgiving meal if you were roped into hosting the full affair.

Full Meals and A La Carte Sides

Caracol & Hugo’s 
Hugo’s:1600 Westheimer Rd.; Caracol: 2200 Post Oak Blvd.
Both of these restaurants from Chef Hugo Ortega have all the fixings for your Thanksgiving feast. They offer a full family feast ($225, feeds 8-10 people), a couple’s feast ($95, feeds two people) and a la carte items like Charred Brussel Sprouts and Roasted Red Bliss Papas Bravas (each are $30 for half pan, serves 4-6 people). Emmaline
3210 West Dallas St. 
This American restaurant is offering its special house-made Parker House Rolls for your family feast. The rolls are $20 per dozen and $50 per sheet (36 rolls). Call the restaurant to place your orders no later than Sunday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m, and pick up the day before Thanksgiving between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. 

Frank's Americana Revival 
3736 Westheimer Rd.
Frank's Americana Revival is offering to-go traditional entrees, side dishes, breads and desserts. Choose from French-cut turkey breast and bone-in spiral ham for your entrée; for your sides, try cornbread with sage dressing, mashed potatoes, roasted butternut squash, green bean casserole, or charred brussels sprouts. All sides available in half pans (serves 12-15, $65) or full pans (serves 24-30, $95). Dessert options are cranberry walnut bread pudding and apple crumble (each serves 12-15, $60). Place your order by Friday, Nov. 22 at 9 p.m.

Goode Company BBQ 
Multiple locations  
This Houston institution has a full Thanksgiving feast (serves 6-8) for pick up for $195. The dinner includes mesquite-smoked turkey, sausage and pecan bread stuffing, potatoes au gratin, sweet potato gratin, old school green bean casserole, roasted cranberry sauce, dinner rolls and beer shallot jam butter, all complete with the famous Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie for dessert, of course. All items can be purchased individually as well. Orders can be placed online or at any Goode Company BBQ restaurant location, through Nov. 21. Order pick-ups (including the pecan pie and chocolate merengue pie drive thru service) will be on Nov. 26 and 27 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. 

Hungry’s 
Locations in Rice Village and Memorial
Holiday catering from Hungry’s is available through Dec. 31. They offer both a la carte items such as corn bread stuffing ($25, serves 10) and French Green Bean Casserole ($35, serves 10) and a full family feast ($170, serves 10). Order at least 24 hours ahead.

Kenny & Ziggy’s
Locations on Post Oak Blvd. and Buffalo Speedway
Get a complete Thanksgiving meal serving 10-12 from this New York Delicatessen Restaurant. The $275 meal includes a fully cooked 16-pound turkey, gravy, wild mushroom and chestnut stuffing, apple pie, cranberry pineapple nut relish and two sides. Place your order by Monday Nov. 21. If your crew has a sweet tooth, consider the 7-layer cake as an extra dessert.

Lucienne at Hotel Alessandra 
1070 Dallas St.
Chef Jose Hernandez of Lucienne Restaurant is offering a full Thanksgiving spread to-go that’s sure to impress guests. The feast includes apple and celery root soup, Thanksgiving salad tossed with apples and cranberries, slow oven roasted turkey, sweet potato casserole with brown sugar and pecans, green beans with herb butter, homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, corn bread, double crust apple pie and pumpkin pie with marshmallows. The feast feeds 10-12 and costs $320. Orders must be placed before Monday, Nov. 25 and will be available for pickup on Thursday, Nov. 28 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Relish Restaurant & Bar

This neighborhood River Oaks eatery has plenty of options for you. If you’re tired of turkey, you can try their fried chicken special – for $38, the bucket feeds groups from 2-4 with 8 pieces of chicken, 2 sides of your choice and 4 homemade herb biscuits. Larger party? The large Fried Chicken bucket has double the amount of food, serving twice the amount of people. They are also offering more traditional sides such as homemade herb biscuits ($12 per dozen); maple brussels sprouts ($8 per side, feeds 2-3); butternut squash soup ($14 per quart, feeds 3-4); parmesan cauliflower ($8 per side, feeds 2-3).

The ’401
6700 Ferris St.
This Bellaire favorite is catering a special holiday feast for 10 at $190. The meal includes turkey, corn-bread stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, French green beans, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls and an apple, pecan or pumpkin pie. They also offer seasonal a la carte selections if you just one individual items. Place your order at least 48 hours in advance. Delivery orders include a seven percent surcharge.

The Pantry at The Junior League of Houston is offering a complete Thanksgiving meal (serves 10-12 people) for $250, or you can order items a la carte. Order by Thursday, Nov. 21 and pick up on Weds. Nov. 27 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The meal includes a 22 lb. Roasted Turkey, Cornbread Dressing, Giblet Gravy (one quart), Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Brown Sugar and Pecans, Corn Casserole made with Bacon and Sour Cream, Cheesy Broccoli Rice Casserole, Cranberry-Orange Relish (one pint), JLH Dinner Rolls (two dozen), and two Pies (one Pumpkin, one Pecan).

The Toasted Yolk
Multiple locations across Houston
The Toasted Yolk is offering their famous hashbrown casserole for $19.99. The casserole comes with cooking instructions and feeds 10-12 people. Call any location at least 24-hours in advance to place your order. 

Verandah Restaurant 
3300 Kirby Dr., Suite 7-A
If you’re craving some Indian-spiced turkey, you can order a tandoori turkey from the progressive Indian restaurant, Verandah. The 16-18 pound turkey is cooked in Indian masala and costs $120.

Dessert

CRAVE Cupcakes 
Locations in Uptown Park and on Kirby 
Crave has Thanksgiving sugar toppers that puts a holiday spin on their classic cupcakes. Order in advance to make sure you get what you want!  The half dozen box, including two each of vanilla, dark chocolate and red velvet is only available through Nov. 27 and costs $31.50.

Dessert Gallery

Though they’re best known for their cakes, Dessert Gallery has a selection of handcrafted pies including Thanksgiving classics such as Double Crust Apple, Old-Fashioned Pumpkin, Southern Pecan and To-Die-For Fudge Pecan Pie, all of which are available in both a standard 10-inch and a 6-inch size. To guarantee your selection, call to order in advance. 

Flying Saucer Pie Company
436 W. Crosstimbers Rd.
Flying Saucer is a Houston pie institution. They make nothing but pies and customers are known to stand in line for two to three hours on Thanksgiving Eve, waiting to purchase their strawberry cream, apple or pecan pies. House of Pies
Locations on Kirby Dr., on Westheimer Rd. and Fuqua St.
This beloved pie purveyor and late-night hot spot is open 24 hours a day, including on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Talk about dedication. They offer homemade specialty pies including Pumpkin, Texas Pecan Fudge, Sweet Potato and Dutch Apple. Pies are first-come, first-serve during Thanksgiving week – no call-in orders unless you are ordering over 20 whole pies.

La Table
1800 Post Oak Blvd. 
For a limited time only, La Table has Bourbon Pecan Pies and Pumpkin Pies. They are priced at $28, 9” and comfortably serve 8 people. There will be limited quantities daily for sale, but you can also call and order ahead of time.

McHugh Tea
5305 Bissonnet St.
McHugh Tea has more than tea! Their handmade holiday pies are $35 each and include classics like Apple and Pumpkin as well Chocolate Meringue and Buttermilk Pecan. Thanksgiving orders are accepted until Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. (Note: Bring your November issue of The Buzz Magazines for a free order of scones with each pie order.)

Three Brothers Bakery

In addition to classics like Pecan Pie ($22.95), Three Brothers Bakery is offering a “Turkey Cake” ($24.95) that truly looks like a Thanksgiving turkey. White cake is cut and shaped into a Thanksgiving turkey, iced in pumpkin pie buttercream and airbrushed a brown color. It even comes with cake gizzards and giblets. Available in store, first-come, first-serve, or by pre-order. For the ultimate crowd pleaser, check out the Pumpecapple Pie Cake. This nearly 30-pound dessert is three layers of cake with pie inside, plus cream cheese icing and caramel drizzle with pecans.
