Avenida Houston presents The Rink: Rolling at Discovery Green

Houston’s first outdoor roller rink returns for a second season with a new and improved skating surface, colorful lighting and fun weekly programming. The rink opens on Friday, March 2 and will be open daily through Sunday, March 25.

Discovery Green and Avenida Houston celebrate the opening of the skating rink with a Roller Rink Opening Party on Friday, March 2 from 5-10 p.m. Festivities include live music from Skyrocket! the Band, a demo by Roller Derby Girls and more.

Weekly Programming:

• Cheap Skate Nights: Mondays, March 5 and 19, 5–10 p.m.: Skate around the rink for just $8 per person (includes entry, tax and skate rental).
• Time Warp Tuesdays: Tuesdays, March 6, 13 and 20, 7–9 p.m.: Skate through the decades at these fun- and music-filled nights on the rink with DJ Mohawk Steve. Costumes are encouraged!
• Let the Good Times Roll Date Night: Wednesdays, March 7 and 21, 7–9 p.m.: Bring your date and skate to crowd-sourced music. Send your requests via Twitter or Instagram using #DGDJ, and that special jam just might get played!
• Time Warp Thursdays: Thursdays, March 8, 15 and 22, 7–9 p.m.: Skate through the decades at these fun- and music-filled nights on the rink with DJ Mohawk Steve. Costumes are encouraged!
• Funfetti Fridays: Fridays, March 16 and 23, 8–10 p.m. With a DJ spinning your favorite jams, roller-skating has never been this fun. Bring your friends and family for a perfect night on the rink under the Houston skyline.
• Superhero Saturdays: Saturdays, March 3, 10, 17 and 24, 5–6 p.m.: Skate with some of your favorite characters!
• This is How We Roll Sundays: Sundays, March 4, 11, 18 and 25, 7–9 p.m.: Skate to Top 40 hits on Sundays throughout March.
