Da Camera Presents "Beethoven for All" featuring The Calliope String Quartet

Calliope String Quartet

In celebration of its 30th anniversary season, Da Camera presents Beethoven For All, a gift to the people of Houston. FREE performances of all 17 Beethoven beloved string quartets will take place in a variety of venues across the city, from museums and performance halls to community centers and libraries. This initiative takes inspiration from the Beethoven cycle performed by the Juilliard String Quartet during Da Camera’s first season in 1988-89.

As part of Beethoven for All, Da Camera presents an educational concert experience designed to engage the entire family at the Campbell Learning Center. The Calliope String Quartet will use Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 3 in D Major, Op. 18, No. 3 as a vehicle to show the important roles that teamwork and empathy play in the performance of chamber music. This educational and family-friendly event will engage the audience of all ages!

The Houston-based Calliope String Quartet is named after the Greek muse of eloquence and epic poetry. Formed in 2014 by graduates of the Shepherd and Moores Schools of Music, the quartet was drawn together by a collective passion for chamber music and desire to explore the string quartet repertoire. The quartet is comprised of violinists Laura Cividino and Hannah Watson, violist Rainey Weber, and cellist Annamarie Reader.
