Evening Lecture with Exhibiting Artist Daniel Gordon
Houston Center for Photography presents an evening lecture with exhibiting artist, Daniel Gordon, on the topic of his exhibition, Hue and Saturate, on Oct. 29, 2019, 7-8 p.m. The Brooklyn-based artist will discuss his photographs of complex tabletop scenery created from collaged
paper sculptures, whose colorful imagery was sourced from the internet. This talk is the latest installment of HCP’s ongoing series, Words & Pictures, a lecture and conversation series between photographers, writers, and thinkers of the medium.
Embracing both the analog and the digital, these works orient the viewer to a very contemporary perspective on the world that is distinctly interdisciplinary, straddling the virtual world and the physical world we live in through the ultimate machine of verisimilitude – the camera. This exhibition is the artist’s first in Houston, having previously exhibited in institutions such as MOMA P.S. 1 (Queens, NY), J. Paul Getty Museum (Los Angeles, CA), and James Fuentes Gallery (NY, NY).
The exhibition is on view through Nov. 10.
