Houston Chamber Choir presents The Joint is Jumpin’: Big Band Favorites

Miller Outdoor Theatre is the location for Houston Chamber Choir’s The Joint is Jumpin’: Big Band Favorites on Oct. 27, which is free and open to the public. 

Houston Chamber Choir’s second concert of the season is themed The Joint is Jumpin’: Big Band Favorites, which boasts a program of hits from the Big Band Era that have won the hearts of listeners over many decades. Billed as “The Music of the Greatest Generation,” the evening will include songs such as The Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” Fats Waller’s “The Joint is Jumpin’”, and Duke Ellington’s “Take the A Train.” As with all concerts at Miller Outdoor Theatre, this will be a presentation open to the entire city of Houston, with ample free seating on the hill and around the park.

The professional men and women singers of the Houston Chamber Choir will be led by conductor Robert Simpson. He is founder and artistic director of the Houston Chamber Choir and Canon for Music at historic Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal in Houston). He also serves on the faculty of the Rice University Shepherd School of Music as Lecturer of Church Music.

Tickets for assigned seating under the canopy can be acquired by visiting the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the event. This concert is sponsored in part by the City of Houston through the Miller Theatre Advisory Board. It is suggested that you arrive early to find parking.
