Peter and The Wolf

Peter and The Wolf

The Houston Symphony is joined by members of the Dawson High School Choir at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 for the 2018-19 Family Series opener Peter and The Wolf, a family-friendly program for all-ages.

Associate Conductor Robert Franz leads the orchestra and choir in a program featuring Prokofiev’s beloved Peter and The Wolf, symphonic fairy tale for children. In addition to the high school choir, narrator St. John Flynn joins the musical morning as he brings to life Prokofiev’s children’s story. Franz closes out the lively performance with popular selections of Disney’s The Lion King.

The Houston Symphony will offer children activities in the lobby beginning one hour before the 10 a.m. concert and immediately following the 11:30 a.m. concert. HSPVA students join the lobby activities by playing throughout six different stations to reinforce the instrument petting zoo experience. Franz always dresses up for the occasion, and audiences are encouraged to do the same.

Peter and The Wolf, part of the BBVA Compass Family Series, takes place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts. For tickets and information, please call (713) 224-7575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the Houston Symphony Patron Services Center in Jones Hall (Monday–Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
