Russian Old New Year Celebration

Russian Cultural Center “Our Texas” presents Russian Old New Year Celebration, Sat., Jan. 12.  Russian culture and tradition return to the heart of Houston as “Henke & Pillot” plays host to the annual Russian Old New Year Celebration.

While the rest of the world is back at work soon after Dec. 31, the Russians get to celebrate New Year all over again in January with the Julian calendar. The festivity is very popular in many Eastern European countries as well as it is regarded for a time of remembrance and celebration.

The festival has become a tradition in the Houston area as it helps bring together a diverse community in an event that all may take part in.

The Russian Cultural Center “Our Texas” has organized this annual event to share rich history, fascinating traditions and entertaining customs in a lively setting, with live music and authentic food.

Traditional Russian food from Silk Road Grill will be provided for the festivity. The famous group from Austin, Texas the “Flying Balalaika Brothers” will play a vibrant blend of Russian and international music for both traditional and modern audiences.

Besides this favorite music band, we bring back celebrated performers this year: dancing show “Dance with Stars”.

The location will host a cash bar that is fully stocked for alcohol related services for attending patrons.
