Speak of Me as I Am: a Celebration of African American Contributions to Shakespeare
Main Street Theater is partnering with Harris County Public Library to celebrate the contributions of historical African American actors to Shakespeare, bringing Speak of Me as I Am: a Celebration of African American Contributions to Shakespeare to four library branches across Harris County. All performances are free and open to the public. Performances will take place:
- Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m.: Katherine Tyra Branch Library, 16719 Clay Rd. Houston, TX 77084
- Feb. 15 at 3 p.m.: Maud Smith Marks Library, 1815 Westgreen Blvd., Katy, TX 77450
- Feb. 18 at 11 a.m.: Evelyn Meador Library, 2400 N. Meyer Ave, Seabrook TX 77586
- Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.: Parker Williams Library, 10851 Scarsdale Blvd, Houston, TX 77089
Readings of Speak of Me as I Am will aim to celebrate Black History month through the stories of some of history's greatest Shakespeare pioneers, and to engage audiences in free, live, interactive Shakespeare.
