This popular and inviting Montrose area sports and craft-beer bar has an impressive beer and food hamburger menu. With 40 specialty craft beers on tap, Revelry is particularly popular on game day, which is just about every day. Along with offering options from local breweries such as 8th Wonder and Buffalo Bayou, Revelry on Richmond offers up some delicious food, which includes Saint Arnold-braised short ribs as well as my favorite, the Big Kidz Grilled Cheese (Gruyere, Gorgonzola and Fontina cheeses served on Texas toast, lightly battered and deep fried), as well as some of the best burgers Houston has to offer. Revelry also offers creative fries, my favorite being the Parmesan Truffle.
Perusing their selection had me salivating over burgers with house-made pickles and picked onions. The Regular was a freshly ground, 7-ounce beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, house-made pickles, pickled red onions and Sriracha mayonnaise on a freshly baked, crunchy, artisan bun. This creative burger resembled a fine work of art. The purplish, pickled red onions stared at me as if to say I dare you to resist. Of course I didn’t resist, promptly cutting that burger in half and taking my first bite. The flavor burst was quite amazing – the meat perfectly cooked to medium with that blackened, charred crust. The cheddar cheese melted into the patty with a nice gooey texture, but the punch came from the “Pickled Pair” (house-made pickles and pickled red onions) on the burger. The Sriracha mayo added a nice kick. The crunchy bun, evenly grilled, had a delectable chewy center. Revelry offers a good assortment of creative fries, my favorite being the parmesan truffle version.
