Strawberry Beet Smoothie

Ingredients: 

2 small beets (cooked and peeled)
1 ½ cup strawberries
2 medjool pitted dates
1 cup almond milk (for a thicker texture, use ½ plain yogurt and ½ milk)
1 cup ice
Optional: vanilla protein powder, chia seeds

Recipe directions: 

Cut beets into large chunks. Steam over 1-inch slightly salted water for about 10-15 minutes. After they cool, combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add vanilla protein powder or chia seeds for extra protein!
