Tyler Duffey graduated in 2009 from Bellaire High School and went on to play baseball at Rice University for three years. Then Duffey was drafted by the Minnesota Twins, just a few weeks after losing his mother, Shanna Duffey, to breast cancer. Recently, he played a game that would make his mother especially proud. He pitched his first professional game, and it was a no hitter. He threw 76 pitches: no hits, no walks, no errors. Duffey told the press he knew his mom was watching and that she had the “best seats” in Heaven.
