Helen Bergen and Elle Espey (pictured, from left) were just two of the runners who helped Memorial Drive Elementary take home the Most Participation award at the 2014 Running for the Arts. Spring Branch Education Foundation presented the school with $500 gift certificates from both Academy and Young Audiences of Houston. Memorial Drive had 32 percent of its student body running in the 22nd annual event, says event chair Laura Cannaday. Running for the Arts raised $64,000. Proceeds benefit the Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum and the Health Fitness Teachers Association.
