Michael Bischoff, Julia FurumoIn Gnesta, Sweden, on the eve of the summer solstice (June 21), also known as Midsummer’s Eve, friends and family of Michael Bischoff and Julia Furumo (pictured) gathered at a beautiful countryside castle to celebrate the couple’s marriage. Michael, a Strake Jesuit and Texas Tech University alum, met Julia while he was living in Atlanta. Julia, a Swedish native, was working in Atlanta, planning on returning home to her country before she met Michael. In attendance at the wedding were Michael’s parents, Mike and Colleen Bischoff, as well as Katie, Lauren, Allie and Andrew Bischoff, Richard and Linda Bischoff, Lee Bischoff, Elvie Bischoff, George and Tommye Zenner, Thomas and Kelly Zenner and children Thomas Jr. and Margo, Thomas Glover, Kayla Colvill, Stephen Sacra, Stewart and Allison Nixon, Sarah Altemus, John Seger, Jaisel Gosai and Donny Nuckel. The bride’s parents and relatives live in Sweden, close to the castle where the wedding party stayed for the weekend. Everyone participated in traditional Swedish Midsummer’s Eve festivities such as decorating the Maypole with freshly picked flowers, singing and dancing the “frog dance,” and eating pickled herring. For their honeymoon, the couple went to Rome where they saw the Rolling Stones perform, then to Santorini, Greece, where they stayed for a week.
