Eagle Scout honor
William Goolsby, a sophomore at Houston Christian High School, recently received his Eagle Scout Award, the highest Boy Scout honor, because of his work at The Mission of Yahweh, a homeless shelter for women and children. His project to enlarge a shed and add a new rack has allowed the residents to enjoy a donation of bikes. He was inspired by his grandparents, June and Jack Long, 30-year volunteers at The Mission, and they were delighted to hear his plans. Unfortunately, before he could complete his project, both grandparents passed away. So William designed and installed a plaque on the bike shed dedicating the project to his grandparents. William is a member of Boy Scout Troop 642 at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church and is the first Eagle Scout in his family.
