The City of Bunker Hill Village recently honored long time resident, William (Bill) Purifoy as the City's Resident of the Year at the City's annual holiday dinner. Mr. Purifoy and his wife, Carolyn have lived in Bunker Hill Village since 1987 and have been active in the community since.

In 1993, Bill was appointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and then in 1999 he was moved over to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Bill was also appointed as Election Judge in 2004 and served in that position until 2013.

Bill continues his service on the Planning & Zoning Commission serving as Chairman. Bill lead the P&Z this past year through an extensive review of the City's zoning, subdivision, and other development related ordinances recommending amendments to the City Council. These recommendations were approved by the City Council in October.

Bill and Carolyn have been married for 61 years and raised two children, Katherine Rench (Husband Craig) and Bill Purifoy who passed away in 2012. They have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bill is also a Charter Member and Past President of the Galleria Rotary Club, a retired businessman from the property/casualty insurance business, an alumni of the University of Texas and a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.

The City also recognized Mr. Rusty Graham as the City's "Public Servant of the Year." Rusty worked for the Memorial Examiner for nearly six years covering council meetings and Bunker Hill news. Rusty was always helpful and fair in assisting the City to get information out to the public. Rusty is now with Spring Branch ISD, where he is working with both the communications and community relations teams.

The City Council is pleased to hold their holiday dinner on an annual basis to thank and recognize the many volunteers that make Bunker Hill Village a great place to live. This year the City celebrated their 60th anniversary and reflected on the changes that have taken place over this time.
