During World War II, Jayne (Forse) Pace drove a Red Cross command car, transported the wounded, and sold war bonds before she joined the Civil Air Patrol. She watched for German submarines and maintained surveillance of a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp on the Louisiana coastline.  At 92 years old, she was honored by U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul and promoted to lieutenant colonel. She will be awarded a Congressional Gold Medal. Cheering her were Capt. Audrey Morrow, Gaynel Morris, Kathy Tuttle, Judy Ebling, Geetha Mammen, Rachel Messina and the Rev. Rick Myers.
