West University resident Marcia Gerhardt’s (pictured, holding acorns and oak leaves) 4-year-old grandson Dylan loves to hug the oak trees in her yard. “I, too, love trees. Just not when they shed their acorns,” she said. “I have lived in my West University bungalow for 39 years.” Marcia even wrote a humorous, tongue-in-cheek essay about her feelings regarding the prolific, acorn-shedding oaks.
