West University Elementary students are preparing for their Valentine’s Day service project and lunch called Project Linus, where they will make handmade blankets. Project Linus offers security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill or otherwise in need, through the gift of a handmade blanket. Blankets will be distributed to Texas Children’s Hospital, Memorial Hermann Hospital, MD Anderson, Shriners Hospital, The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, Child Abuse Center, Child Advocates, Children’s Assessment Center, Star of Hope, Houston and Katy police departments, ambulance services and funeral homes. Pictured are students at WUES working on a blanket.
