Duchesses on the Island

Continuing the tradition back to 1871, the Knights of Momus, Galveston’s oldest Mardi Gras Krewe, will present its royal court, King Frivolous C and his queen at the Knights of Momus Coronation Ball and reception on Feb. 7 at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston. Sally and Robert Kline will serve as ball chairs. The 21 duchesses were selected by nominees to the krewe board. In addition to being presented at the Coronation Ball and at Paige and Tilman Fertitta’s annual San Luis Salute on Feb. 13, the duchesses will ride in the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade on Feb. 14. The 2015 Knights of Momus Mardi Gras duchesses include Carly Gray, Frances Brown, Katherine Dowdell, Shannon Doyle, Elizabeth Ford, Hannah Fred, Emma Gorski, Megan Johnson, Virginia Kanaly, Erin MacInerney, Jennifer Millard, Merritt Mecom, Katherine Moore, Makenzie Newkirk, Anabelle Reade, Caroline Scruggs, Shelby Shelton, Sarah Silva, Kayleigh Silva, Kathryn Steinhubl and Macey Wegner.
