Spirited

When Stephanie and Paul Madan realized they had so many friends without family plans they started an annual Christmas Eve gathering. As the party expanded to include more people so did the wine list. For the 35 friends, there were wine stations for red (guests chose from pinot noir, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon ) and white (Champagne and Pouilly Fuisse and Gavi). Blue Label Scotch was on hand for Scotch aficionados. There was Asian slaw, smoked turkey (a Madan tradition and courtesy of Magnolia horse-farm friends Karen and Steve King), poached salmon, pâté, homemade ginger cookies, Southwestern chicken salad and much more, with Alan Mundy’s signature peanut brittle. Among the guests were Bo and Pat Sturdivant, James Bow, Mary Cullen, Katina Pontikes and Monty McDannald, Connie and Rick Senter, and Ann and Jim Bullock. Cheers for all.
