Aden Kovach (pictured) maneuvers around his opponent and passes to a teammate in a recent game with the Memorial Knights. Kovach, a seventh grader at Memorial Middle School, plays attack for the newly formed Knights 7A lacrosse team. He began playing lacrosse three years ago, and he is enjoying his first year with the Knights. “I like how the team has come together. I am learning a lot from the coaches and having a lot of fun,” Kovach said. The Knights organization is composed of 120 boys who are zoned to either Memorial High School or Stratford High School, and was formed by merging two former middle-school programs, the Mustangs and the Spartans. This is the Knights’ inaugural season, and they have nine coaches across five teams for boys ranging from fifth to eighth grades. The teams are part of the Greater Houston Youth Lacrosse Association and partner with both the Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Association and 3D Lacrosse.
