Crowd fever

At Saks Fifth Avenue, a fashionable crowd admired nominees who raised funds for leukemia and lymphoma research. The enthusiasm rose after hearing Luca and Dana, named Boy and Girl of the Year. They are blood-disorder survivors who told how they suffered spinal taps and extensive treatment to get to the healthy place they are now. Emcee Melinda Spaulding of Fox 26 announced this year’s candidates and last year’s fund-raising winners. The Man of the Year is Nick Stefanakis and Woman of the Year is Hasti Taghi. Applauding were Rosie Murphy, Dr. Sheena Garner, Tiffany Sanders, Larisa Samtsova, Natalia Dregalo, Sarah Pepper, Michael Schellinger, Karin Jamieson, Elizabeth Truong, Christine Tran, Lawrence Jamieson, Colleen Samaniego, Juanita Leon, Jenny Pallais, Alla Nowowiejski, Sonia Jupiter, Rena Karash and Jentry Kelley.
