An updated list
We’ve compiled some resources on how to cope with the damage after the recent flood. Please comment below if you know of any other resources, community events or opportunities that could be helpful to those affected by the flood.
Moving Boxes and Canned Goods
Come down to the ERJCC anytime today at 5601 S Braeswood Blvd for boxes, cleaning supplies, and non-perishable food items from the Houston Food Bank available in front of the building. Call (713) 729-3200 or visit the website for more information.
FEMA Assistance
If you are seeking relief from damages caused by the recent floods, please visit one of FEMA’s Disaster Mobile Assistance Centers at Spring Woods Middle School (9810 Neuens Road) or the Meyerland Community Improvement Association (4999 West Belfort) starting June 5 at 1 p.m.
Free Rides for Flood Victims
During the entire month of June the ERJCC will be providing free rides to anyone who has been affected by the recent floods in the following zip codes: 77025, 77035, 77036, 77071, 77096 and 77401. Please call 713-595-8191 to schedule a ride anytime Monday to Friday.
Need a Mattress?
On Saturday, June 6 at 398 Meyerland Plaza Mall, Mattress Firm will be donating a limited number of mattresses and store credit cards to individuals affected by the flood. Please provide proof of damage (Red Cross or FEMA documentation). Additionally, there will be free Whataburger and family activities to raise everyone’s spirits after a tough few weeks. If you’re unable to make it this Saturday, please visit their website.
If you own a Gallery Furniture mattress that was ruined in the recent flooding, bring a picture to Gallery Furniture and they’ll replace it for free.
Get the 3-1-1
Download the Houston 311 App to easily report damage from the flood.
Help for the Elderly
If you are 60+ years and have been affected by the flood, please call 2-1-1. These special services can apply for relief programs, replace food and medicine, locate alternative housing, arrange for transportation, work on healthcare and prescriptions, and navigate services like FEMA.
Free Storage
Houston area U-Hauls are now offering 30 days of free self-storage to those affected by the flooding, along with providing valuable supplies such as boxes, tarps, propane, and propane tanks. See more.
Kids and Camp
Beth Yeshurun Day School is offering some full subsidies for BYDS Summer Camp for kids of families who have been affected by the flood. If BYDS’s assistance would enable your family members to attend BYDS Summer Camp, register here. Volunteering for Flood Relief
If you’d like to help the community bounce back from flood damage, join the Texas Annual Conference Committee on Relief to clean up the Meyerland and Westbury area that sustained a lot of damage as a result of the flood. Sign up here.
