A birthday celebration broke loose during Thursday Free Play Mah Jongg at the West University Senior Center when Mah Jongg enthusiast Rita Welsh turned 95. West University resident Delrina Sides hosted the party, with a cake from Moeller’s Bakery, and the women all decided to wear festive hats. Mah Jongg is a Chinese multiplayer tile game. The free class meets every Thursday at the senior center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There are also Mah Jongg lessons on Fridays at 9 a.m. Call 713-662-5895.
