A tri-umphant day
Over 2,800 kids completed what organizers called the world’s largest kids triathlon at the University of Houston. The 4th annual Houston Texans Kids Triathlon didn’t let the rain or the closure of the campus indoor pool stand in their way. Instead they just used an Olympic-sized inflatable pool. Bellaire Friends came together to help fellow residents, Lexi and Justin Clark, who have a rare and serious disease, giant axonal neuropathy (GAN). Team Justin’s TRIumph over GAN raced and raised over $3,600. Kids Triathlon also is contributing to Hannah’s Hope Fund, a non-profit whose mission is to find a cure for GAN. Special recognition goes to Quinn Harrison, who placed second in the 10-year-old boys X-Class Division (for kids who have completed a triathlon before) and Zoe Howell, who was the third highest fundraiser for Team Justin’s TRIumph. Pictured are some team members, including (top row, from left) Matthew Bosarge, Quinn Harrison, Lauren Clarke, Hailey Schultz, Mia Arteaga, Peyton Cantrell, Dana Malin, Lexi Clark, (from bottom to top) Naomi Block, Sophie Turk, Rebecca Kant and Zoe Howell.
