Honoring a friend

West University Little League’s (WULL) spring season came to an end with closing ceremonies at Wallin Field. The WULL Seniors (ages 13 to 16) were honored for winning the 2014 Senior League World Series last summer in Bangor, Maine, at the Little League World Series. It is an annual tradition to present all senior players with a personalized bat as a keepsake of their participation in the league. In a moving tribute, the senior team (pictured) united in a huddle, lifted a bat dedicated to Matthew Resnick, and pointed it to the heavens to salute their former teammate and friend. Matthew died in an accident in January of 2008 at age of 9. Those there were moved by his teammates’ example of character, courage and loyalty.
